Philosophy
"I Love the way dark black ink looks on clean white paper. I love high contrast and the play of positive and negative space, both serving an equal role in creating a piece. That is my inspiration for my line. By laser cutting genuine leather for the vases, challah covers, mezuzah cases and prayer bags, it allows me to experiment with positive and negative space. I play with light and shadow, the light leather contrasting the shadowed interior. The cuts create a juxtaposition of hidden and revealed.
I am honored to create beautiful Jewish ritual objects that enhance the Jewish experience. When I created this line, I took very traditional and dated looking ritual objects and updated them to fit into contemporary and modern homes. I create pieces that are unique by using laser cut genuine leather, a material that has never been used for Jewish ritual objects.
